The sun rose over the frozen snow
Reflecting light put on an incredible show.
The forest woke by the gentle breeze
As the warmth melted crystals from the trees
Sunrise and sunset in just a few hours
Not much time for daylight so far north
Months ahead until we see spring flowers
It’s time to endure Nature’s course
Winter in the wilderness
Is a secret that’s well kept
Glacial forward progress
Just a little as we slept
Longer days arrive slowly it seems
The wintry aura a white crystal sea
The thaw and melt are still in our dreams
That fades with time ultimately
Warmth has arrived, water starting to flow
Plant, growth, and harvest. A fresh new start
As we prepare for the coming snow
Soon Winter creeps back into our heart
