GALLOWS BO - Drivin' my cart on down the road. My horse was pulling a heavy load. Another inmate was leaving death row, and headin' for the gallows pole. And he's begging me not to go. I told him he's already dug his hole. Should be prayin' to Jesus for his mortal soul 'cause he's headin' for the gallow pole. The deed was done. I was goin' home. Rain was falling. I was chilled to the bone. The haunting memories were killing my soul of the wretches hanging from the gallows pole. I climbed into bed. I needed to close the days events. My guilt did rose. But sleep didn't come. I was alone from the memories of the gallows pole. I climbed out of bed, my head aching so. My only relief was out in the cold. The noose 'round my neck had started to glow. They found me hangin' from the gallows pole.
